We're going on a bear hunt!

 

This is a program that has been forming in my mind as I've been talking to friends in children's ministry. Maybe one day, when the timing is right I'll try it with my kids, but at the moment I'm putting it out there and if anyone finds it useful let me know.

 

This program is designed for evangelism. It's not the standard program, but should be lots of fun and I hope kids from the community would want to come!

It's a five week program (1x 1.5hr lesson a week) based on the song "We're going on a bear hunt!".

The idea is that "We're going on a bear hunt" becomes the theme song. Each week you use one verse as the topic verse and link it into the focus concept (have a look at the individual weeks to see how to do this). The overall theme is this:

You can't miss God's love. Each verse of the song says, "We can't get over it, we can't get under it, we can't get around it, we'll have to go through it!" We can't get over God's love, we can't get under God's love, we can't get around God's love... its all around us! Unlike in the song, we can't even get through it. It never ends! That's how much God loves us.

I found a song on a CD  ('Jesus loves me this I know' by McDonnel, 2007 - I got it from Koorong for $9.95) called "Jesus' love is very wonderful" and it says the same concept. I think that was what originally gave me the idea for this program. That song could be used as another theme song.

The idea is that each week you take a different approach to looking at "Jesus loves you", giving the children an opportunity to explore this in a non-threatening environment and if they would like, make the best decision of their life (have Jesus as their friend!).
