For this lesson you will need a car mat and some toy cars.

Tell the children you need to get to the airport and you want them to tell you how to get there. They can't do it, can they? Now lay the car mat on the floor. Put a car outside one of the houses and tell the kids to get the car to the airport. Now they can do it, all they needed was a map. Maps tell us where to go and how to get there. They are very important when we go on a journey. Maybe you have a map from an old camping trip you've marked that you want to show the kids. Show them a street directory or 'map book'.

Where do you want to go to heaven when you die? Do you know how to get there? We are on a journey and we need a 'map book' too to show us how to get there. But this isn't any normal map book, its a special one called the Bible. When we read it, the Bible tells us how to live. What are some of the things it tells us to do?
