Our Friendship Banner

Back to Missions

This can be used in two ways:

1) To create a class community

2) To create a banner to pray for friends, people in the church or missionaries,

Resources:

butchers paper, white paper, pencils, paint, sponges, bucket of water, sticky tape/glue, scissors, fat marker

  • Get each child to paint their handprints.
  • On a banner length of butchers paper (as long as you want), create a title appropriate to your purpose (see above). Eg, Our Friendship Banner (class community, praying for friend), Our Church, Missionaries of the world
  • Cut out the handprints and glue on the banner.

  • If doing class community, get each child to draw a picture of their face and write their name on it. Stick them on the banner.
  • If doing pray for friends, get the children to draw pictures of their friends.
  • If doing people of the church, you could get people in the church to paint their handprints or get people in the church to draw self-portraits, or get the children to draw portraits of people from the church.
  • If doing missionaries, you might be able to get photos of missionaries the church supports or if the visit the church you could get them to paint handprints (make sure you have paper, paint, bucket of water and sponges readily available so it should only take them 5 minutes - you will be more likely to get cooperation.

Use the banner as a prompt in prayer to remember the section of your church community you are praying for.
