Fly Air KidZone: Missions Program
Back to Programs
After a little while out of doing 'the children's minstry at my church, I unexpectedly started doing it again and this was a rather hurriedly put together program. However, it must be one of my favourite programs for simplicity and the enjoyment of my children and leaders. We had kindergarten right through to year 7 in our program together, so it was a really big age range. I tended to split the art activities into two and split the children by abilities into two groups.
The basis of our program was 'flying' to other countries with our passport (you might remember this idea from the AnimalPraise! program, but the kids love it!). Each week we learned about missions in other countries. As the children walked into the room they were given a sticker to place in their passport. I asked one the ladies from the church to write the weekly Bible verses in each of the passports. I split the room into sections using chairs. I left a larger gap in the chairs for the door and as the children entered each section I gave them an activity related stamp in their passport. (I still had a stamping set I got as a kid with hundreds of little stamps in it that I used. I'm not sure when you could get cheap little stamps like this anymore - if you have an idea, let me know and I'll put it on here.) The different sections/activites that we had were: travel time (initial teaching segment), art attack (self explanatory), great games (again, I probably don't need to explain), service projects (where the kids got involved practically in missions), singing (our Missions Theme Rap and other songs), prayer bear (praying for missionaries with our prayer bear) and a miscellanous section (cooking, gardening, drama and other crazy activities). Feel free to watch the movie for more of an explanation or email me (kidsministryresources@live.com.au) for the entire program.
